--Frank Daykin, New York Classical Review

“THE INTRICATE FILIGREE OF TAKÁCS’ PIANO PLAYING SPARKLES WITH BREATHTAKING CLARITY. THESE ARE STIRRING PERFORMANCES,”

--Christopher Hutton, American Record Guide

Hailed by the New York Times as “a marvelous pianist,” Peter Takács has established himself as an internationally renowned musician whose bracing interpretations have been warmly received by critics and audiences alike.

His recording of the complete Beethoven piano sonatas on Cambria Master Recordings has garnered glowing reviews, including being voted Album of the Year 2022 on the high-resolution platform NativeDSD and the coveted “Recommended” status on musicwebinternational.com in 2023. Other significant releases include the complete Beethoven piano-cello repertoire with LA Philharmonic principal cellist Robert DeMaine and the three Schubert piano-violin sonatas with his Oberlin colleague, violinist Sibbi Bernhardsson, both on the Leaf Music label.

As a Professor of Piano at the Oberlin Conservatory since 1976, Takács has taught several generations of talented students who have been prizewinners in international competitions in the U.S., Germany, Italy, South Africa, and China. Takács continues to be active as a performer, chamber musician, master class teacher, competition adjudicator, and participant in summer festivals.
